Efforts to enhance security and reduce risk related to Veterans’ personal data to continue

CHANTILLY, VA – July 24, 2018 – AbleVets LLC, a leading provider of advanced IT solutions for government, recently learned that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) had chosen to exercise Option Year 1 of the IT Security Engineering Support (ITSES) contract. The overarching goal of the ITSES program is to assure that the systems and applications Veterans use to acces healthcare services are secure and protect their Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI).

AbleVets is helping to achieve that objective by delivering mission-critical cybersecurity services that include

  • Strategy and vision for VA’s Enterprise Cybersecurity Architecture
  • Risk Management Framework activities in preparation for Authority to Operate
  • Support for migrating applications to the VA Enterprise Cloud
  • Risk assessments and security impact analyses

These and other ITSES program efforts will now continue through June 24, 2019.

“Cybersecurity is a major concern when it comes to every federal system and application,” said Wyatt Smith, CEO of AbleVets. “However, securing our Veterans’ PII and PHI is a top priority and a major challenge considering there are over 500,000 endpoints and 1,500 facilities involved. We are proud that the VA recognizes the value AbleVets brings to the ITSES engagement and is extending our engagement beyond the base year. I congratulate the AbleVets staff for the high-quality support that made this contract extension possible.”
